BTS has struck a new deal with Universal Music Group for distribution and marketing within the United States and other regions.
HYBE confirmed the news on October 22 in a statement to Wall Journal, adding that the band has concluded its prior agreement with Columbia Records and entered a new marketing and distribution treaty with Universal Music Group.
“While we greatly appreciate our time with Sony and will forever be grateful for all they have done and will continue to do, we look forward to our new chapter in partnership with Universal,” the statement read.
Previously, Universal Music Group was responsible for the distribution of only BTS’s Japanese releases via Universal Music Japan.
Both the parties are also in a strategic partnership that also involves debuting a new boy group.
